Although I made a lot of books recently I neglected updating the blog with new pictures. It is very hard to find a good spot for taking pictures of my work. These ones are not brilliant either, may be in the future I’ll take my book in a park and have them photographed there.

Many years ago I was given as a present a nicely binded romantic little book called “Bartolozzi” (complete title: “Bartolozzi and his pupils in England”). I skipped through it, I’ve learned that Francesco Bartolozzi was an Italian engraver and painter, I admired a few reproductions of his works, the nice cover, the old yellowing pages. I wanted to read more, but I didn’t get too far, since it focused on his pupils and biographical details about the techniques they used for engraving while and after working with Bartolozzi. (See some of his works here.)
I treasured the book for its historical value and years later I decided to…transform it into a notebook. Brown or transparent paper pages were sown with golden thread on all the book’s pages, apart from those at the beginning of the book and those that were reproductions of engravings. At the end I tore apart the old pages, leaving just their bases, on which the blank pages were sown.
